Program of Almargen Pilgrimage

It celebrates: From 2nd June to 3rd June
Place: Almargen (Málaga)

In honor of the Virgin of Fatima, there is a procession through the town followed by three days of celebrations in La Saucedilla. The highlight is the decorated floats by the residents, with a prize for the most original one. The climax is the journey to the site, where a mass is celebrated.

Friday 2nd June

  • 22:00 h.  Performance by "Las Carlotas" on the plain of "La Saucedilla".

Saturday 3rd June

  • 8:00 h. Drummer through the streets of the village.
  • 9:00 h. Departure of the Virgen de Fátima from the Villatorta shed.
  • 10:00 h. Mass in honour of the Virgen de Fátima.
  • 11:00 h. Competition of carts, floats, prams, best decorated rider, best decorated horsewoman, best decorated horse/mare.
  • 11:30 h. Departure of the Virgen de Fátima through the streets of the village towards "La Saucedilla". Arrival at "La Saucedilla" with the traditional lettuce stall.
  • Sevillanas dance competition enlivened by the group "Menta y Romero".
  • 18:00 h. prize-giving ceremony for all the pilgrimage competitions.
  • Followed by the 70's 80's and 90's group "Sotano Sur".

On Saturday 3rd June before 18:30 h. all horses must leave the pilgrimage plain and no motor vehicles will be allowed to circulate on the plain.
