Program of The First Cutting of the Honey in Ayora

More information:

The XXII edition of El Primer Corte de la Miel de Ayora, declared a Festival of Autonomous Tourist Interest by the Generalitat Valenciana, will be inaugurated on 11th October at 18:00hr. This edition will last for five days, with a very varied programme, which will culminate on Sunday 15th October.

The Primer Corte de la Miel is a fully consolidated event as a beekeeping, gastronomic, tourist and cultural fair, where everyone has the opportunity to learn more about the world of honey from local beekeepers, and to see what a beehive is like inside and how the beekeepers extract the honey, all through a large glass urn. Ayora has a deep-rooted beekeeping tradition and is one of the towns that produces and exports the most honey in the Valencian Community, and is also one of the leading producers in Spain.

Due to the success of previous editions and the greater number of exhibitors, the extension of the fairgrounds through the decorated streets of the town has been consolidated, offering a greater capacity to the attendees and thus avoiding crowds.

At the fair, the world of beekeeping is made known, visits to the cultural and natural heritage are organised, there is the possibility of tasting typical products of local and regional gastronomy, there are shows, free children's activities for the little ones, flights of birds of prey, concerts, competitions, exhibitions, visits to the shopping area and the craftwork area. In addition, this year there will be new features such as guided visits to the Beekeeping Interpretation Centre, the premiere of the new Renaissance Route, the dramatised narration of the life of Rodrigo de Mendoza, Marquis of Zenete and Lord of Ayora, children's workshops such as the creation of prehistoric beehives, a magic show or the live preparation of traditional gazpacho cakes, among other attractions.
