The Orujo Festival is a popular tradition that takes place in Potes, Cantrabria on the second weekend of November and where one of the oldest and most popular liquors in this region of Spain is tasted.

XXX POMACE FESTIVAL - PROGRAMME 2022

The Orujo Festival will be held between Friday 11 and Sunday 13 November.

In its 30th edition it will name Los Del Río as Orujeros Mayores.

FRIDAY 11 NOVEMBER

  • 11:00 h. Opening of the Book Fair in Jesús de Monasterio Park.
  • 20:00 h. Conference "The cheeses of the Camino Lebaniego and their pairing with the orujo de Liébana" by Ana Arroyo at the Centro de Estudios Lebaniego.
  • 21:00 h. Street show "Cavaldeath" by Scura Splats During the afternoon-evening our streets and squares will be filled with traditional sounds and colours with the Altamira Choir-Ronda Altamira and La Montaña Pipe Band.

SATURDAY 12 NOVEMBER

  • From the early hours of the morning and throughout the day: Folkloric demonstrations in the streets of the town.
  • 12:30 h. Reception by the authorities of the Orujeros Mayores 2022 D. Rafael Ruiz and D. Antonio Romero "Los del Río", in the Centro de Estudios Lebaniegos.
  • 17:30 h. Parade of folkloric groups, regional costumes and gastronomic brotherhoods accompanying the Orujeros Mayores 2022 D. Rafael Ruiz and D. Antonio Romero "Los del Río", the authorities and the Orujeras companies to the Plaza de la Serna.

In the marquee of La Serna

  • 18:00 h. Proclamation of Mr. Rafael Ruiz and Mr. Antonio Romero "Los del río" as Orujeros Mayores 2022.
  • At the end of the proclamation, the stalls of the "orujeros" companies will be opened for tasting (until 22:00 h.).
  • 18:30 h. Folkloric performances.
  • 19:00 h. Family show "El gran Braulio" by Adrian Conde Espectáculos at the Centro de Estudios Lebaniego.
  • 20:00 h. Guided tasting of orujo (grape marc).
  • 21:00 h. Performance Viene & Va. Tribute to Fito y los Fitipaldis.

SUNDAY 13TH NOVEMBER

  • 11:00 h. Craft and creative workshops by Beatus Ille.
  • 12:00 h. Performance by the "Entre-Montaña Virgen de la Cuesta" Dance Group.
  • 12:30 h. Announcement of the jury's decision and award of the Alquitara de Oro 2022 to the winner.
  • 13:00 h. Tasting of borono with repinaldas.
