What is the Fiesta del Tostón?

The Fiesta del Tostón is an event with deep roots in the municipality of Ojén, organised by the San Dionisio Cultural Association and held on the first Sunday after All Saints' Day. Over time, elements have been added to this tradition, such as popular games and traditional gastronomy.

The Tostón Popular is a Festival of Provincial Tourist Singularity that recreates in public the tradition of roasting chestnuts. It is a consolidated tradition and has been awarded the title of Festivity of Tourist Singularity. The aroma of roasting chestnuts fills the air, symbolising autumn and anticipating winter. The tradition of the Tostón Popular is responsible for recreating this practice in public, accompanied by good ojeneto brandy, bacon and other traditional delicacies.

The San Dionisio Cultural Association, organiser of the event, has been incorporating elements to this tradition, such as popular games and traditional gastronomy. Chestnut cartridges and brandy, served with sultanas and bacon, are a must.

The date with chestnuts and gastronomy begins early every year and lasts well into the afternoon.

Origins and Tradition

Since its inception in 1992, this celebration was born from the collection of chestnuts in the idyllic spots of Juanar and Puerto de Ojén. Over the years, it has managed to gather more than 1,200 people in the streets of the village. Here, not only can you enjoy the delicious gastronomy, but also a wide variety of carefully organised parallel activities.
