The Battle of Flowers in Laredo is an extraordinarily important event in this coastal town and attracts thousands of visitors every year. The last Friday in August is the main event, mainly the parade of floats decorated with natural flower petals.

In addition, throughout the day there are street markets, brass bands and charangas and all kinds of cultural activities, culminating in a fireworks display of great beauty.

But the Battle of Laredo is much more than just one day, as the planting, care and harvesting of the flowers takes place throughout the winter and spring. And the preparation of the floats takes months, and there is great competition between them.

The eve of the festival is known as "Noche Mágica" (Magic Night), when those who prepare the floats work hard to assemble all the figures and decorations so that the floats look perfect.
